Spiced Beef Tongue
SPICED BEEF TONGUE
3 to 4 lb. beef tongue
2 qts. water
6 whole cloves
6 whole black peppercorns
1/2 t. salt
4 bay leaves
1/4 c. vinegar
Combine all ingredients in crockpot. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or until tender. Remove from pot; drain. Cool slightly; remove skin with sharp knife. Serve hot or cold. Slice thinly and serve plain, or with horseradish or mustard sauce. Makes great sandwiches when served cold.
