Default Re: Losing Weight Without Starving Yourself

Hi Ron - I want to thank you for this month's reading selection.

It's funny that this was the book chosen. On the morning news they were talking about obesity in babies, toddlers and the effects it has on our bodies. I fully agree that it is an epidemic.

There are so many people that have gone from diet to diet (Jenny Craig to Weight Watchers, to Adkins, etc.) with no results. I really shouldn't say that because they do lose weight but they gain it back along with a few more pounds. And the word DIET alone turns off so many people. It shouldn't because no matter how much you weigh and what you eat it is your "diet". We hear the word diet and we automatically think of overweight people trying to starve off the weight. Perfectly fit and healthy people eat a "diet" of healthier foods.

I wonder when we will smarten up and realize that all the money paid out to fat farms, diet workshops, diet groups, etc. could be money in our pockets if we would only learn to eat foods prepared in a healthier manner and watch our portions! We've become a society of fast-food addicts. Just grab something through the drive-thru to hold you over. And when we notice the weight is creeping up and the clothes are getting tight, we still visit these fast food places and try to eat healthier by ordering a salad with a burger instead of fries with a burger. Instead of ordering fries we may reach to "taste" one or two (if we can stop there) from whoever we are eating with. And we are always in such a hurry with everything and not enough time in a day which causes us to rush through everything, including our meals, and we eat fast. I've said it before - eat S-L-O-W-L-Y and you will see some wonderful results!!! Remember what Grandma always said - "CHEW YOUR FOOD" - try it - you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This book was very well written- very sensible! It is well worth the price and by following the guidelines in this e-book, you can become very successful at dieting and eating healthier. I like the fact that it does not require anything that requires an expense - just your food choices and you would be buying food anyway! It gives a good sample of calorie counts for certain foods and the recipes that are very sensible.

I am not sure if I am allowed to post this and if it needs to be deleted I understand - but there is a book that I have - if I can remember the author - I think it's Corrine Netzger (I could be wrong - but stupid me loaned it out and I have not gotten it back yet!!) and it gives complete listings of foods, fresh, pre-packaged, frozen, restaurants, fast food places, etc. with portion sizes, calories, fat, carbohydrates, sodium, etc. And it is very interesting. This e-book and that book of counts is all you could ever need.

This is not an e-book for just those who want to lose weight - it is also informative regarding eating properly and what your body needs to survive!

Thank you for this one Ron!
