I never had an accident leaving my crock pot for 8-10 hours while I'm at work.
I always leave it on the stovetop to insure nothing with fall a touch it etc.
I been doing this for at least 13 years with no problems.

Enjoy, it's the best way to cook and your house smells awesome when you come home.
