Default Re: chili powder?

Chili Powder is a blend of spices and is what is used when recipes call for that spice, often along with a specific brand since the blends can be different.

Chili Powder is different from individual hot pepper grinds, such as cayenne pepper, etc.

Chili powder is usually made from mild to hot chili peppers (or a blend), cumin, cloves, coriander, allspice, oregano or Mexican oregano, garlic powder, salt, etc. some recipes may have a bit of sugar, some may have paprika, some may have cayenne - it's all a matter of preference of how hot or mild you want it and how much flavor your want.

You can purchase it in stores, or you can make your own.
