Exclamation Removing Tomato Stains from Plastic dishes

To remove tomato ring or stain from tupperware or plastic dishes clean as usual then place out in direct sunlight for several hours. The sun "sunburns" the tomato white.

I recently had this problem with my LAREGE WHITE TUPPERWARE Bowl and tried scouring it with dish soap, baking soda, vinegar, baking soda WITH vinegar, dish washer detergent, oxiclean to no avail. Then I placed the bowl out in the sunlight tilting it so the sun would hit all side without any shadows casting from the sides. After six hours it was white as can be!

So if you have an old dish stained with tomato, go try this. I'd like to know if it works on old stains as well.

I hope this helps you keep those bowls looking new and fresh!

I'll have to try that. Your way is cheaper than mine.

I use Cascade Plastic Booster that I found in the grocery store. It comes in a tube for about $2 (label says 'recommended by Tupperware and I also saw it in their catalogs). You put a few tablespoons of it when you run your dishwasher. I don't have a dishwasher so I just put a small amount of it in the container I want to clean, pour boiling water into it, mix it up and within a short period of time the stains are gone. You could throw it in the microwave to heat up the water again if the stains aren't all out the first time.

I don't often have to use it. I found that storing tomato sauce-y items in containers don't leave stains but warming them up in them does. Additionally when there's fat content in it.

Thumbs up Re: Removing Tomato Stains from Plastic dishes

I tried the "sunburn" with an old Tupperware bowl, the stain had been in there for several years. I had even used 409 it usually removed just about every stain that I had (also kills ants) to. This also worked on just the regular palstic bowls to.

But I let the bowl sit in the direct sun light the stain was gone in about 7-1/2 hours completely white.

Thanks for sharing this bit of wonderful information and cost nothing either how great.
