Hi!

I'm not sure of what kind of information you are looking for about sweeteners and sugar.

If you go to the Cooking Tips forum and type in Sugars and Sweeteners in the SEARCH you will see several articles that I have posted about sugars, sweeteners, etc. including baking with sweeteners, the different kinds of sweetners, etc.

Let me know if that helps you.

I use splenda and the splenda brown sugar for baking. I have found it works the best of the sweeteners I have tried. Splenda contains sugar so you get moistness , browning and rising that you lose in some sweeteners. It contains half the calories and carbs of regular sugar. This is the guide I use. If your recipe calls for 1/2 cup of sugar = 16 packets of splenda no calorie sweetener, 1/2 cup of splenda no calorie granulated, 1/4 cup splenda sugar blend or splenda brown sugar blend. You may have to play around with the amounts a little depending on what you are making but we have found that it can be used in almost all our friends favorite baked goods with good results. We have run these recipes by her dieabetic doctor and he approved them, saying don't go crazy and eat the whole thing in one day but in moderation they should be ok. Hope this helps you.

Hi Horselover,

I do the same thing as my husband is a diabetic and like the things I make with Splenda and Splenda brown sugar they work for us. We talked to his diabetic doctor and said that what i was doing has been good for him and has brought down his blood sugar to 89 to 108 before I started to using the Splenda it stayed around the 170 to 250 mark that along with exercise and cutting the carbs to. We both have lost weight to he has lost about 50 lbs. I have lost about 45 lbs. just watching what we eat and doing moderate exercise to. Keep up the good work. Have a wonderful night!!!!!
