Default ''Food P.O.R.N.'': Only the Daring Eat This

''Food P.O.R.N.'': Only the Daring Eat This From the people who brought you the Monster Thickburger (1,420 calories in two 1/3-pounds of beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayo on a buttered bun) and a fatty chicken salad (1,100 calories thanks to onion rings and crispy chicken), we now have the Country Breakfast Burrito, which checks in at a staggering 920 calories and 60 grams of fat. All before you start work.

The Associated Press reports Hardee's new breakfast sandwich is two egg omelets filled with bacon, sausage, diced ham, cheddar cheese, hash browns and sausage gravy, all wrapped inside a flour tortilla. "It makes this big country breakfast portable," Brad Haley, Hardee's marketing chief, told AP, saying it rivals the kind of big breakfast typically served in sit-down restaurants. This way you can stuff it down while driving.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a Washington-based advocate for nutrition and health, calls Hardee's high-calorie, high-fat, high-cholesterol, high-salt menu offerings, led by the Thickburger line, "food p.o.r.n.." If you decide to eat the Country Breakfast Burrito, do note that you're getting a half day's worth of calories and a full day's worth of saturated fat and salt. To which Haley the P.R. guy responds to AP, "We don't try to hide what these are. When consumers go to other fast-food places they feel like they've got to buy two of their breakfast sandwiches or burritos to fill up. This is really designed to fill you up."

That it will do. And it's cheap, too. The Country Breakfast Burrito is generally available for $2.69. Add hash browns and coffee to it for $4.09.
