Browned Onion Gravy

* 1 tablespoon safflower or olive oil
* 1 large onion, halved and sliced
* 1-1/2 cups water
* 2 teaspoons vegetable seasoning (like Spike)
* 1/4 teaspoon dried tarragon
* 1/8 teaspoon sage
* 1/4 teaspoon chervil
* dash of nutmeg

Heat oil in a large skillet. Add onion slices and sauté over medium heat until onion wilts and begins to brown. Add water, vegetable seasoning, tarragon, sage, chervil and nutmeg. Bring to a boil and lower to medium-low heat. Cook until gravy is reduced to about 3/4 cup.
