I need ideas for 4th grade class Christmas party
If anybody has done anything cute for their child's Christmas party, please help me out with some ideas. I need food ideas and craft ideas. I think we only have an hour for the party so nothing too involved. Thanks for your help!

Re: I need ideas for 4th grade class Christmas party
Hi USPATRIOT,
This is a good party favor that you would have to make prior to because of the glue gun...might be too dangerous for the kids, not to mention that you would need many guns due to time constraints.
Take a large pack of "Big Red" gum
Glue four peppermints as wheels
Glue one caramel on top rear of gum
Glue one "Hershey's" Kiss on top front
Keep wrappers on all candy
It's a cute train.

Paper Plate Wreath
Paper Plate Wreath
This project consist mostly of cutting and glueing. To save some time, for steps 3, 4, and 5, you can have the bow and leaf already drawn on the construction paper - ready for the kids to just cut out, and eliminate the bell on the soft material. This project is fast and the kids can decorate their home or class with the finished product.
Pink pom pom balls can be bought at the dollar store, and they don't have to be pink. Or if you don't have the pom pom balls, just have the kids dab a little glue here and there on the green tissue on the wreath and sprinkle with some glitter and shake off (gently) the excess glitter. Anything goes at this stage!
List of Materials :
-green tissue paper
-red and green construction paper
-pink pom pom balls
-soft yellow material
-white glue
-large paper plate
-scissors
Directions
1. First, cut the inside of the paper plate to create the wreath.
2. Tear pieces of green tissue paper, squash them, and glue it all around the paper plate.
3. Draw a bow on red construction paper and trace it with a black marker. Cut it out and glue it at the top of the wreath.
4. Draw a leaf on green construction paper and trace it with a black marker. Cut it out and glue it on the wreath.
5. Draw a bell on the soft material and cut it out. Glue it on the wreath.
6. Glue the pink pom pom balls (about 5-6 of them) all around the wreath.

Re: I need ideas for 4th grade class Christmas party
As an ex-Blue Bird/Campfire leader we had our share of crafts!
Using the colored foam egg cartons and a package of garland we would cut the bottoms of the cartons into rows - 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. "egg cups" and staple together in the shape of a Christmas tree. Then we would outline the tree with the garland and also staple it between the rows (hiding the way it was assembled). Make glitter stars and glue to toothpicks and insert at the top for your Christmas star.
Pinecones are nice to work with:
Pine Cone Christmas Tree
A easy-to-make pine cone Christmas Tree. Use it as a Christmas decoration or as a tree ornament. This is a simple craft that even young children can help make.
For each Pine Cone Christmas Tree you will need:
a large, open pine cone (pick one that is tree-shaped and stands upright easily)
Glitter
A few cotton balls
White glue (like Elmer's)
Dental floss and a needle
Small beads
A small bow or star to top off your little tree
Glue a few cotton balls to the bottom of the pine cone. These look like snow and help the "tree" stand upright.
Put a little dab of glue at the tips of the pine cone and then sprinkle on glitter.
String some small beads onto dental floss (about 1 to 1 1/2 ft or more, depending on the size of the pine cone). To string the beads easily, tie one bead securely to the string. Then give the floss to the child for stringing. Older children can use a needle to help with the stringing. When the stringing is done, tie off the last bead with a knot.
Wrap the beads around the pine cone and glue them to the tree.
Top off your tree with a small bow or other decoration.
And what is Christmas without gingerbread men???
String of Paper Gingerbread Men and Women
Make a string of paper gingerbread men and women to decorate a room. These simple-to-make strings make a great Christmas or Winter decoration. You can drape the strings across rooms, over windows and around the tree.
Supplies needed:
Brown grocery bag or brown/tan construction paper
Crayons or markers
Scissors
Glue, tape, or staples
A long piece of green or brown yarn or string
Draw a gingerbread man or woman on a piece of construction paper. Make sure to draw a rectangle on the top of the head (your gingerbread person will hang from this rectangle, which will be folded over).
Cut out the gingerbread people. Draw a face, clothes, etc.
Fold the rectangle at the top of the head over.
Attach the gingerbread person to a long string using tape, glue, or staples. Make more gingerbread people and attach them to the string.
Hang your string of gingerbread men and women across the room for a wonderful Christmas decoration.
We also made these out of felt with felt decorations (cut outs) or rick rack from the sewing department.
