Default Chocolate Walnut Sensations

Chocolate Walnut Sensations
Serve these wonderful bars at your next gathering! Kids of all ages enjoy these! Make a batch or two (or more) for gift giving! This would make a great holiday gift made in a fancy 9-inch square baking pan; a nice serving utensil and of course - a copy of the recipe so that they can also make these any time they want!

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
teaspoon baking soda
teaspoon salt
cup firmly packed brown sugar
cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
12-ounce package (2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided
1 cup chopped walnuts
Walnut halves for garnish

Preheat oven to 375. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a large mixer bowl, beat brown sugar, butter and vanilla extract until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in 1 1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate morsels and chopped walnuts. Spread into greased 9-inch square baking pan. Bake 23 to 25 minutes.

Immediately sprinkle remaining 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels over top. Let stand until morsels become shiny and soft. Spread chocolate evenly over top. Garnish with walnut halves. When cool, chill 5 10 minutes to set chocolate. Cut into 2- x 1 -inch bars.

Yields 24 bars
