Default Need coleslaw recipe

I'm looking for a creamy coleslaw recipe that will go good with BBQ'd ribs? I have a good recipe but it is sweet and on the dry side. I'm looking for something without much sugar or honey. Thanks.

2 carrots, grated
1 red onion, thinly sliced
2 green onions (white and green parts), chopped
1 fresh red chile, sliced
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 lemon, juiced
Pinch sugar
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
Several dashes hot sauce
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Combine the cabbage, carrots, red onion, green onions, and chile in a large bowl. In another bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, lemon juice, and sugar. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss gently to mix. Season the cole slaw with the celery seed, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. Chill for 2 hours in the refrigerator before serving.

Default KFC Cole Slaw

This is a copycat recipe but so good !

KFC Cole Slaw

8 1/8 cups cabbage
1/3 cup carrot
1 teaspoon onion, chopped fine
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/8 cup milk
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/3 cup granulated sugar

Core the cabbage, then shred the cabbage fine using the fine disk for the shredder attachment to the mixer. Shred the carrot the same way. Mix together cabbage, carrot and onion.

In a bowl combine the buttermilk, mayonnaise, milk and lemon juice with a whisk until well combined. Add the salt and pepper. Add the sugar to the sauce until well mixed in. Add the sauce to the cabbage and carrot mixture and mix well and allow the mixture to marinate for 13 hours in the refrigerator.

Default Coleslaw Recipe

Hi,
My coleslaw recipe uses mayonnaise, lemon juice, sour cream and sugar as the dressing.

I mix equal parts of mayonnaise and sour cream and add a squirt or two of lemon juice (more would make it moister but more tangy) and a tablespoon or two of sugar, to taste and according to the amount I am making. It can be as sweet as you like or less if you want it that way. Keep in mind that the cabbage is going to take up a lot of the sweet and tangy flavors. You can make this with just cabbage, add carrots, onion, a friend of mine uses tomatoes, put in at the last minute. I have tried that and it is very good.

My mother always used only mayonnaise in her coleslaw. We all liked it back then but it was pretty dry. I guess you could use enough to make it moist.

These are the two coleslaw recipes that I have used. Our local barbeque restaurants use the coleslaw that is made with vinegar and sugar with pepper and I guess salt. I have made it before and it was called Freezer Slaw. I don't have the recipe but I am sure you could search for it and find a selection. Of course, it isn't creamy.

Default Creamy Coleslaw

Creamy Coleslaw

2 pounds of cabbage
2 large carrots
1 medium green pepper
1 small onion
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/3 teasspoon celery seeds
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 Tablespoon white vinegar
2 1/2 Tablespoon lemon juice

Shred cabbage and carrots with a grater or food processor.
Finely chop green pepper and onion, you can use your food processor for this too. Combine cabbage, carrots, green pepper and onion in a LARGE bowl.

Thoroughly mix remaining ingredients and pour over cabbage mixture and stir well. Refridgerate 2 hours, over night is even better, stir before serving.
