Default Chicken Party Bites

Chicken Party Bites

1 sheet (1/2 package) frozen puff pastry, thawed
3 medium green onions
1/4 cup prepared chutney or orange marmalade
3/4 teaspoon curry powder
1-1/2 cups shredded, cooked chicken (about 8 ounces)
3/4 cup shredded mozzarella or jalapeno jack cheese (3 ounces)
1 large egg yolk
1 tablespoon water

On a floured surface, unfold pastry sheet so that it lies flat. Cut pastry into 2 12x4-inch rectangles. Cover and chill. In a blender or food processor fitted with the metal blade, chop green onions. Add chutney and curry powder; process until blended. Add chicken and cheese; process until finely chopped. Spoon filling lengthwise down center of each rectangle to within 1/2-inch of edges. To prepare glaze, mix together egg yolk and water until blended. Brush some glaze on one long side of each sheet. Fold long sides over filling. Press edges together to seal. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brush tops with remaining glaze. Cut crosswise into 1 inch thick slices. Place pastry slices on an ungreased baking sheet (11 1/2x17-inch). Freeze for 10 minutes. Bake pastries until golden, 12 minutes. Transfer baking sheet to a wire rack to cool slightly. Garnish with green onion fans. To make green onion fans, cut white portion into thin strips, keeping bulb end intact. Soak in ice water until strips curl.
