Meatloaf Patties With Gravy
1-1/3 pounds ground sirloin
1 salice white bread, spread w/butter, cut into cubes
1/8 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 tsp allspice (optional)
1 rounded tsp tomato paste
1 medium onion, finely chopped (reserve 1/4 amount)
Gravy:
2 tbl butter
1/4 onion (from above)
2 tbl flour
1 - 1 1/2 cups beef broth
1 tbl Ketchup
1 tsp spicy brown mustard
1 tbl steak sauce
Put meat in large bowl. Make well and fill with bread cubes and milk. Add
egg, salt/pepper, allspice, tomato paste, and onion.
Combine all and form into 4 large oval patties, 3/4" thick.
Pan fry in non-stick skillet over med-high heat 7 minutes each side under a
loose foil tent.
Remove to platter and return pan to heat. Reduce heat to medium; add butter and onion.
Saute onion 2 minutes; add flour, cook 1 minute. Whisk in broth. Bring to
bubble; add condiments and remove from heat.
