Italian Grilled Cheese
8 slices Italian bread
4 tablespoons butter, softened
8 (3/4-ounce) slices deli american cheese (or your choice)
4 ounces sliced deli salami
1/2 cup roasted red pepper strips
1/3 cup mild banana pepper rings
12 to 16 basil leaves, if desired
Spread 1 side of each bread slice with 1/2 tablespoon butter.
To assemble sandwiches, layer 4 slices bread, buttered-side down, with 1
slice cheese, 3 to 4 basil leaves, 1/4 salami, 1/4 roasted red pepper
strips, 1/4 banana pepper rings and 1 slice cheese. Top with remaining bread
slices, buttered-side up.
Heat 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Place 1 sandwich into skillet; cook,
turning once, until golden brown and cheese is melted (8 to 10 minutes).
Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
