Default Applebee's Chicken Wings

Applebee's Chicken Wings

I realise this isn't the honey bbq recipe....but you might want to try incorporating this first recipe with the one that follows below. It's a trial and error process.

Ingredients:

about 35 chicken wing pieces
12 oz Louisiana hot sauce
6 tbsp margarine
3 tbsp white vinegar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1¼ tspn cayenne pepper
¼ tspn garlic powder
1½ tbsp flour

Cook the wings until done by either baking or deep-frying.
Mix all sauce ingredients except flour in a saucepan on the stove. Cook over low-medium heat. When warm, add flour to thicken sauce. Stir frequently.

When sauce is thick, cover bottom of 9" x 13" baking dish with sauce. Mix rest of sauce with wings and place in baking dish.

Bake at 300°F for about 20 minutes or until warm.

Serve with celery sticks and blue-cheese dressing.

Applebee's Honey Glaze

1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup beef stock
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup honey
1/8 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon whiskey
1/4 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
Tabasco sauce (to taste)
1 tablespoon garlic (granulated)
Cornstarch/water mixture (as needed to thicken)

Combine liquid ingredients No. 2 through 10 in saucepan and warm to just below a simmer over low heat. You may opt to use a "double boiler" pan to avoid scorching the glaze.

Next, add garlic and then slowly add sugar while stirring.

In small cup/bowl, add cornstarch to cold water and mix thoroughly until starch is dissolved. Increase heat to glaze and slowly stir in the starch/water mixture as it thickens. Do not bring to full boil. Stop just short of the desired final consistency. It will continue to thicken. Reduce heat to keep warm. Serve on the side of your favorite broiled dish or brush on just before removing from the broiler/grill.
