Dear Abby's No Peekie Stew

2 lbs. boneless beef stew meat, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
1 pkg. onion soup mix (Lipton's preferred)
1 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
6 to 8 oz. wide noodles

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In 3 quart casserole, combine stew meat, mushroom soup, onion soup mix, and water. Mix well. Cover, bake at 350 degrees for 3 hours. Prepare noodles according to directions. Drain and toss with butter. to serve, spread noodles on large serving platter, top with stew. Serves 4 to 6
