DESSERT - HIGH FIBER - HELPS TO LOSE WEIGHT - FAT BLOCKER
APPLE CRUMBLE WITH TOASTED-OAT TOPPING
6 medium apples
1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
3/4 c. old-fashioned or quick cooking rolled oats
3 T. tasted wheat germ
3 T. light brown sugar, packed
1 t. ground cinnamon
1 T. canola oil
1 T. unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Preheat oven to 350* F.
Coat 12 X 8-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
Cut apples in half lengthwise. Remove cores and stems; discard. Cut the apples into thin slices.
Place apples and applesauce in prepared baking dish; toss to coat the apples evenly with the applesauce. Spread evenly in baking dish.
In small bowl, combine oats, wheat germ, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Drizzle with the oil. Add the butter. Mix with fingers, working the oil and butter into the dry ingredients.
Sprinkle oat mixture evenly over apples. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until topping is golden and apples are bubbling. Serve warm.
