Dinner on the Ground (or a Southern Picnic)

In the south there is a tradition of having dinner on the ground. It is usually after church on Sunday followed by an all day singing. It is potluck and eaten picnic style.

We did the same thing only on a much smaller scale. We had buttermilk fried chicken, Aunt Mabel's potato salad, broiled parmesean tomato slices, summer squash & zucchini salad, lemonade and fresh blackberries with sweetened cream for dessert.
