Complaint!!!!!
Like many that are serving chips along with other Superbowl goodies - I purchased 3 bags of Lay's potato chips - all CLASSIC - but - one of the bags was fried in safflower oil. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG - what a lousy aftertaste! That's one bag in the trash! I'll just stick to the regular Lay's classics!

Re: Complaint!!!!!
All I know is - I was in the supermarket and bought 2 bags of classics - regular. I stopped at another supermarket on the way home a grabbed another bag - and the whole display of classic was fried in safflower oil - and stupid me grabbed a bag. I hope they don't change all their classic to safflower oil or that's the end of Lay's potato chips in my house.

Re: Complaint!!!!!
I agree with "don't mess with a classic!" Remember the Lay's slogan, "you can't eat just one." Is Lay's trying to be Wise?

Re: Complaint!!!!!
Well it looks like it is official in my area - after checking several stores yesterday - Classics, as well as other Lay's-flavored chips are now fried in safflower oil. I'll just have to find another chip company when I need chips or just make them myself...................

Re: Complaint!!!!!
Possibly the FDA is responsible for the changes in Lays...... That is about trans fats!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even fast food restaurants are to be not using them!
So, you might want to contact Lays (I believe their full name is Frito Lay- possiblly add dot com to see if they have a web site).
Lately, I've been making my own "chips" with a microwave apparatus. I love them! Just sprinkle a little salt (I use sea salt - as it does NOT have Iodine - which I'm allergic to - and you use less!) I like to make them thick..... but you can make them as thin as you'd like !

Re: Complaint!!!!!
Scarecrow - I've been making my own for years - but Lays was a wonderful product for when company drops in, parties, etc. when I'm too busy to make chips for everyone.
I checked 2 different stores today - same thing. So it's homemade and I won't be buying Lay's products ever again!
