Default hot foods for a cold day

I don't think it will ever stop snowing! Wind chill is minus 25 and the winds are just whipping off the lake! No matter how many times I go out to shovel during the day or night - I can't stay out more than 5 to 10 minutes without running back in to warm up for a few minutes - it's that cold - and it is taking forever that way.

It seems like AAA and tow truck operators are enjoying starting cars with dead batteries! It's so bad here that even the plows have gotten stuck in the snow! Still haven't seen a snowplow on our street in 3 days. The news was down here - with the whiteouts you couldn't make out the announcer!

So far - we still have water - there are so many water main breaks around us! Everyone talks about WalMart - but they are sending trucks of bottled water to the towns around us that have no water. FEMA could learn a lot from WalMart!

There is a driving ban on, schools and businesses are closed and it looks like we are doomed!

I'm using up the last of the diced chicken I have in the freezer - mixing with rotini, frozen broccoli, frozen peas and cream of chicken soup - topped with breadcrumbs and butter - bake until heated through. Serving with a large salad of greens and French bread. Its easy enough to prepare cuz I'm too tired to make anything else.

I used my Xpress 101 machine and made chocolate cakes, frosted with chocolate frosting. Those are for later with hot chocolate.

on really cold days or nights, I'd like to make a stew...I'd put some chopped stew meats or steak meats or cooked/browned groundbeef (or already cooked/boiled chicken that has been pulled apart from bones), put some vegs like cut-up carrots, chopped celeries (optional), 1 can each of corn, peas, cut green beans..put a teaspoonful of salt, and few spices like poultry seasoning, parsley flakes, etc (nothing spicy)..and oh, yes 1-2 beef bullion cubes..and let it cook for like 30min to 45 min..depends on the flavor it's ready to eat after simmering...and you can save some for freezer for future eating...along with homemade or store-bought biscuits...mmmmm..

what do you think about that?
