I love Sundays!
I love Sundays!
Always brings back memories of the huge family dinners with enough food to feed an army. It looked like an army of people as well. You cooked and baked all day Saturday and Sunday.
The family is much, much smaller now - but we still enjoy the meals from years ago.
Yesterday I made homemade bread, used a portion of the dough to make a party pizza last night and a portion I bagged and refrigerated until this morning.
Today's breakfast request was fried dough. So I pulled out my dough and fried it up - pleasing everyone!
The pot of meat sauce with homemade Italian sausage in it is on the stove now.
My potatoes are boiling - I'm making potato gnocchi today! Those are such belly-stuffers!
A large antipasto with the greens, meats, cheses, olives, peppers, etc. and homemade bread!
Dessert??? How's a chocolate sponge cake sound? Baked in a jelly roll pan, filled with chocolate pudding and rolled jelly-roll style; sprinkled with confectioners' sugar. It's just waiting to be devoured!
Not as much as we used to cook when everyone piled in each Sunday and holiday - but this is just fine for us now.
