Italian sausage
this morning at the market I picked up some italian sausage, Vidalia onions and red peppers as well as a ffresh loaf of french bread - so it's carny food for dinner today - sausage, peppers and onions served on french bread with a loaded salad of greens!

Re: Italian sausage
Damn, that sounds good. I like to dip the sandwich in the juice so it gets nice and wet and messy. MMMMMMM

Re: Italian sausage
Hey - the messier the better! and carmelize the onions - OMG - to die for! Toast the bread after splitting - little but of crunch - and if you accidntly make too much salad dressing (vinaigrette) - dip in that too!

Re: Italian sausage
I don't use a dressing for sausage sandwiches. I caramelize the onion and green peppers in the same pan as i browned the sausage. Then I add water to the pan, add the sausage, peppers and onions and simmer until the sausage is done. The resulting juice with some salt and pepper is what I dip the sandwich in.

Re: Italian sausage
I meant the "extra" dip in the dressing from the salad as well - and if I use only olive oil with a bowl of tomatoes and onions - I get lots of luscious juices! Just wedges of tomato, onion, oilive oil (no vinegar or lemon juice at all), add salt and pepper - stir it up and let it sit on the counter for about 1/2 hour and its makes the best dressing ever! I sop it up with Italian bread or a good sloppy sammie - and if you make a tomato onion sammie out of it - you have to eat it over the sink! It is soooooo good.
