Thumbs up oven weather

It's definiely oven weather!

I did my grocery shopping today - got a huge roasting chicken - 7+ lbs. so I decided it would make a nice meal for tomorrow's dinner and I'm making the big meal for very early afternoon.

Just roast big bird (I'm bad) and make pan gravy, mashed taters and a veggie side dish. Side salad and toasted bread rounds.

Then I'll stick the skin and carcass in the soup pot with carrots, celery, onions and seasonings - homemade soup with veggies and homemade soup balls (Italian soup dumplings) for dinner.

Homemade bread for soppin'!

Tummy warmers for sure!

Leftover chicken (which of course there will be) makes great chicken salad and still leaves some for a nice salad of greens topped with diced chicken for Sunday's lunch.

Yes - chewy little things - made the size you want - great in soups and stews -
no measurements - I go by feel - by I do think you'll get it - flour, beaten egg, pinch salt, make a dough (cover with bowl for 20 minutes to rest), roll into ropes as thick as you want and cut off pieces as thick as you want. Cook in water - a rolling boil with salt. Or cook in your broth. Can add a pinch of baking powder if you want. Like snowflakes - no two are the same! LOL
But they are tummy fillers - like gnocchi are.
I hope you try them.
