Copycat Entenmann`s Pound Cake

I have a real treat for everyone today.
One of my neighbors is from the original Entenmann’s family. Since the business was sold years ago he was unable to give me a copy of the “official” recipe, but I tried this one yesterday and trust me, it tastes just like the real thing!
Serves: 8 Pound Cake
Ready In
: 1-2 hours

1/2 pound Butter
2 cups Powdered sugar
3 large Eggs
1 2/3 cup All Purpose Flour
1 tablespoon vanilla extract or lemon

Preheat oven to 325F.
Spray an 8-1/2″ Pyrex loaf dish with Pam.
Cream butter with sugar on high speed of mixer for 5 minutes.
Add 1 egg and then a little flour, continue beating for 2 minutes.
Add 2nd egg and half of remaining flour and beat 2 minutes.
Add 3rd egg, rest of flour and extract, beating 2 minutes.

Spread batter evenly in prepared loaf dish.
Bake 65 minutes or until tester inserted into center comes out clean.
Cool in baking dish on wire rack 30 minutes.
Remove from dish. Slice 1/2″ thick.

I love this blog, I can’t wait to try this pound cake, I have a question though, I don’t see salt in the ingredients, is it this cake without any salt?….thanks for great recipes!!!ddlatina

Will have to try this recipe being a pound cake lover. A recipe I always use doesn’t use salt either.

Never saw a cake recipe using powdered sugar as a main ingredient.?!? Yes, the Chocolate iced Spice Squares would be delicious for this fall.
Dog just came in house, she got in fight with skunk and lost, WHEW! Will white vinegar neutrilize it? I tried tomato juice couple years ago and it doesn’t work. (lord, this smells terrible)

For Cat, I know it is late but you can try this for “O de Skunk” 1 tbsp Dawn dish detergent + 1 bottle Hydrogen peroxide in a 1/2 gal. warm water. Wash & rinse well = breath of fresh air. Or at least a lot better air.

I worked for a vet for a long time, and we used
women’s douche products (any over the counter brand)on “skunked” dogs…it works well!

This would actually be 1/2 of a traditional (many many moons ago) pound cake recipe, as it was called pound cake because you used a pound of each main ingredient. 1 lb butter, flour, and powdered sugar. The list here is basically 1/2 of each of those ingredients. I never believed my grandma when she told me this, but now that I see this recipe, I can see that it is true!

I made the pound cake…3 mini loaves and they were delicious. (Sat down while doing all the beating but it was worth the effort.) Thanks

Just wanted to say this is the easiest & best pound cake I’ve ever baked or eatten.
I baked it along with my 6 yr old daughter (who loves to cook ).. We doubled the recipe with no problem. Also we mixed all the eggs in at one time but did add the flour bit by it.

Just wanted to add, I have had so many request for this recipe. So now I just keep a few copies in my purse. If you double the recipe it will make one reg. loaf pan and 3 mini loafs. I will NEVER usa any other poundcake recipe… ever.. Easy & Great

I made this cake and it came out dust dry. Other comments on this cake are very good. Is it possible I could have done something wrong? I also passed the recipe on to a friend and she said her cake came out the same way.
On the other hand, I tried the Boston Market Squash Casserole and it was delicious!

I followed the pound cake recipe to the “T”. When the cake was done and cooling, it collapsed in the middle??? What went wrong here???
