How to use lemon grass oil
Recently I bought a small bottle of essential lemon grass oil. I've heard that it can be used to preserve your foods and also in salads and soups.
If you have any information then please share it.
Thanks in advance.

Re: How to use lemon grass oil
this is from the net -
Lemongrass essential oil is derived from the lemongrass plant and has a strong, sweet, lemony aroma. Lemongrass is believed to have antiseptic and astringent properties. In India, it has been used to fight fever, depression and digestive difficulties. It can be used during aromatherapy, blended into lotions, mixed into soaps, used to scent candles or in pest control sprays.
Aromatherapy & Massage Oils
Lemongrass essential oils can be put in bath water or in oil burners for aromatherapy. One teaspoon of lemongrass oil can also be mixed in a bottle with ¼ cup of almond oil and used as a massage oil.
Lotions
When making homemade lotions, lemongrass oil can be added to give it a lemony fragrance. A simple body lotion can be made with lemongrass oil. In a double boiler, slowly melt 1 tbsp. of grated beeswax with ¼ cup of almond oil. Stir the beeswax in the oil until it is melted, then add ¼ cup of witch hazel and 2 tsp. of lemongrass essential oil. Let the mixture cool a bit, and then squeeze the contents of about two vitamin E capsules and stir until cool but still pourable. Pour the mixture into a container, and seal with a tight lid.
Soaps
The antiseptic and astringent properties of lemongrass oil make it a natural choice for soaps. A soap with lemongrass and eucalyptus oil can work wonders for inflamed or irritated skin. In a double boiler, melt 4 ounces of glycerin soap base. Once the glycerin is melted, add 1 tbsp. of grated beeswax and stir until it is melted. Stir in 1 tsp. each of lemongrass and eucalyptus essential oils. Soap dye can be added at this point. Continue stirring the mixture, and pour into soap molds. Allow it to dry, and then remove from the molds.
Candles
A homemade lemongrass-scented candle can produce a nice, strong fragrance. In a double boiler, melt about half a block of paraffin or beeswax over low heat. Once it has melted, stir in 1 tsp. of lemongrass essential oil (more can be added for a stronger scent). A lemony yellow candle dye can be used to color the melted wax. Use a small amount of wax to glue the aluminum bottom of a wick to a tempered glass or plastic container. Once the wick is stable, pour melted wax into the container and allow to harden.
Pest Control
Lemongrass and citronella belong to the same family of plants and can repel pests. A simple mosquito spray with lemongrass and citronella can be made at home. In a spray bottle, combine ¼ cup of water with ¼ cup of witch hazel. Put the lid on the spray bottle and shake to combine. Once combined, add 2 tbsp. each of citronella and lemongrass essential oils. Shake well to blend.
and this one -
Possessing a fragrant and uplifting scent, lemongrass oil has both internal and external applications. Good for general aches and pains, lemongrass oil can be massaged into sore joints and muscles. Used in aromatherapy, lemongrass oil is a natural antidepressant that has relaxing and sedative qualities.
Historical Uses
Historically, lemongrass oil has been used in a variety of ways to treat a number of ailments. A drop of lemongrass oil was placed on a sugar cube and given to patients to cure digestive complaints such as vomiting and gastric irritability. Applied topically, lemongrass oil has been used to treat ringworm, kill skin fungus and ease joint pain. Ancient civilizations also used lemongrass oil in food flavorings, cosmetics, perfume and incense.
For the Skin
The natural antiseptic properties of lemongrass oil make it ideal to help heal wounds. As it is also a natural antibacterial, lemongrass oil can help prevent infections when applied topically to broken skin. Lemongrass oil can even be used as a natural deodorant. Much like citronella, lemongrass oil is a natural insect repellant. For this purpose, it can be added to carrier oil and massaged into the skin or it can be mixed with water to mist on the skin before going outside. People who have sensitive skin should avoid applying lemongrass essential oil directly to the skin as it is likely to cause irritation.
Pain Relief
To ease pain in the joints or from a muscle sprain, combine equal parts of coconut oil and lemongrass oil and massage into the affected area. It can also be made into a salve by melting 1 cup of olive oil, beeswax and lanolin and adding 10 mL of lemongrass oil to the mixture. Its natural analgesic properties relieve arthritis pain by reducing inflammation.
Steam Inhalation
Add a few drops of lemongrass oil to a bowl of steaming hot water for a steam inhalation treatment. Breathing in the aroma of lemongrass oil is useful in many ways. Its citrusy fragrance is a natural mood lifter that helps relieve depression and anxiety. Lemongrass essential oil used in aromatherapy can help relieve sadness from many situations such as loneliness or when a loved one has passed away.
Internal Uses
Although more commonly ingested in an herbal tea form, lemongrass oil can also be taken internally in very small amounts. As it is very potent, it must be diluted in a beverage such as water or tea and only a couple of drops should be taken at a time. Though most commonly used internally for digestive complaints, lemongrass oil can help bring down a fever and work as a natural diuretic. Women who are pregnant should not use lemongrass essential oil internally or externally.Life is God's gift to you......what you do with your life is your gift to God.

Re: How to use lemon grass oil
I like the smell of lemongrass, so I usually add a few drops of oil to the candle before lighting it. But you need to be careful with it because it may smell very strong and give you a headache.

You could use oil for cooking asian dishes. Look up Vietnamese pork with lemongrass, vietnamese lemongrass chicken and fish sauce and lime.
