1 lb Italian style sausage meat, hot or sweet (500 g)
1 (10 oz) can mushroom soup
1/3 cup milk
cup chopped onion
Salt and pepper, to taste
3 cups sliced raw potatoes
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese

Remove casing from sausages and brown the meat. Drain fat.

Combine soup, milk, onion, and salt and pepper.

In a 2-quart casserole, layer half the potatoes, half the soup mixture and half the sausage. Repeat layers ending with sausage.

Bake at 350 F for 1 to 1 hours until potatoes are tender. Uncover, add cheese. Return to oven until cheese melts.
