All Eyes on Your Feet ( Diabetes )
If your doctor is busy, it might be a challenge to get him or her to examine your feet. Of course, this is important for your health. Here are a few tips to direct your doctor’s attention downward:
Take off your shoes and socks. If you have trouble doing this, ask the doctor’s nurse or assistant to help you. Studies have shown that health care professionals are much more likely to examine your feet if your shoes and socks have already been removed when the health care provider comes into the examining room.
Another way to get your feet examined is to ask. Most health care professionals will readily check your feet whenever they are asked. Finally, if you do not feel that your regular physician pays enough attention to your feet, you could go to a podiatrist or orthopedic doctor who specializes in foot care.
