Apple Butter Pudding from 1935
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
4 apples, peeled, cored, sliced thin
Cream butter and sugar.
Beat eggs and add to milk.
Add to butter mixture.
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt
and add to other ingredients.
Pare and slice apples very thin and
stir into batter. Beat well.
Pour into a small greased bowl
and steam 2 hours. Serve with
Sweet Sauce (recipe below).
Sweet Sauce
2 tablespoons flour
3/4 cup sugar
pinch of salt
2 cups boiling water
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix flour, sugar and salt
with a little water to a paste
and add to boiling water.
Cook 5 minutes. Add butter,
vanilla and stir well.
Serve on pudding.
