Apples are so delicious this time of year.
APPLE PIE BITES:
1 pie apple
1/4 c sugar
1 T flour
1t cinnamon
1 t or 2 t apple pie spice
1T butter (cold)
24 won ton wrappers.
Peel, core and mince or chop apple fine.
Combine sugar, flour, spices and cut in butter with a pastry blender or fork. Add apple.
Place a T full in center of wonton wrapper.
Moisten edges of wonton and fold diagonally over filling. Seal by pinching. (Take care not to get too much filling so they do not seal)
Spray with butter spray or brush with melted butter sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon (1/2 t cinnamon 2 T sugar mixed.)
Bake at 375 for 8-10 min or lightly browned on the edges.
My kids like to dip in caramel apple dip, but are great alone or with ice cream.
Wonderful recipe. I would like prepare this recipe with more than 2 Apples so that I can get a more Apple taste. The whole recipe with ice cream will add more taste.
I made them for the charity event and was very disappointed. They didn’t travel well, they became soggy. I ended up tossing them. Luckily, the children weren’t expecting them, so they weren’t disappointed.
My FCS class ate them immediately, so they did not last long. I wonder if flour tortillas would last longer, I have seen a similar recipe that uses apple pie filing rolled in a tortilla with a water, sugar and cinnamon glaze, baked in a cake pan. Can’t find the recipe. Would love to try it if anyone has it.
I have 48 kids in two classes so even though puff pastry would be good, we need cheap. The secret is not to bake too long. Sometimes students have a tough time separating puff pastry and sealing it. but definitely lots of options.
