Best Ever Butter Cream Frosting

“This frosting it the best you will ever taste. It is so creamy and just tastes great on any cake."
Yields 1 frosting for 1 - 9x13 inch cake.

INGREDIENTS

1 egg white
3/4 cup milk
1 cup white sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

Heat milk to boiling, and then let cool. In a large bowl, beat egg white until stiff. Add sugar, butter, and vanilla. Mix with mixer till well blended. Add cooled milk, then beat until nice and creamy. Will take about 15 to 20 minutes of beating after adding the milk. Use to frost any kind of cake. Best if kept refrigerated after frosting cake.

I have been using this recipe for years. I make the chocolate version by substituting 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of cocoa powder and adding an additional 1/4 cup milk. (For more buttery flavor try adding 1/4 teaspoon butter flavoring)

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
5 cups confectioners sugar
1/4 cup milk

In a large bowl, cream butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add salt, flavorings, confectioners sugar and milk. Beat well.
