Candied Fruit Cranberry Chutney

Note: I always make chutney as something special at Thanksgiving and Christmas time. This condiment goes well with poultry and pork.

4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 medium apple, peeled and diced
3/4 cup white vinegar
3/4 cup chopped mixed candied fruit
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. ground mustard
1/8 tsp. ground cloves

In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes OR until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Cool than transfer to a bowl, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve…yields 5 cups
