Cheesy Grits and Shrimp or Sausage

CHEDDER CHEESE GRITS
4 cups water
1 cup grits
1/2 cup half n half
2 tbls butter
1 1/2 cups chedder cheese
salt and pepper

Bring salted water to boil, slowly stir in grits. Reduce heat to low and continue cooking stirring often until thick about 15 - 20 minutes.
Remove from heat, stir in half n half, butter then add cheese.

Add in cooked shrimp, sausage or whatever you would like.

I normally saute the shrimp with olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper, lemon and then spoon over the grits.
