Cherrys and Egg Noodle Dish

Hello,

I am looking for some help finding a recipe. When I was small my mother made a dish where she would cook some egg noodles, pour a can or cherry pie filling over the top. Then she would bake it and it was great. There is a possibility that we put whipped cream over the top when we ate it. I don’t remember for sure, it’s been almost 50 years.

My mother is getting up there in years, but she seems to remember putting cream in the mixture too. I believe this recipe is German.

I would love to make this for my grandchildren.

If anyone could please steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

You mean something like this? I think the official name is “Kugel”.

CHERRY NOODLE CASSEROLE

1 (12 oz.) pkg. med. noodles
1 (14 oz.) bar cream cheese
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sour cream
1/2 c. milk
1 lb. cottage cheese
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sugar
1 can Comstock cherry pie filling

Cook noodles. Mix all ingredients, except cherry filling. Add noodles. Put in large casserole. Bake 1/2 hour in 350 degree oven, uncovered. Put cherries on top. Bake 1/2 hour more, covered.
