Chicken Breasts Supreme

This is my mother-in-law’s recipe. I have made it so many times, that I can make it without the recipe.

3 whole chicken breasts, split (boneless is ideal)
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. butter
1 (10 3/4)oz. condensed cream of Mushroom soup
3/4 c. white wine (sauterne)
8 1/2 oz. water chestnuts, drained & sliced
4 oz. can/jar sliced mushrooms, drained
2 TBSP. chopped green pepper
1/4 tsp. thyme

Sprinkly chicken breasts with pepper. Brown on all sides in butter. Arrange chicken in an ungreased 9x13" pan. Stir soup into butter in the frying pan; slowly stir in wine. Add remaining indredients and bring to a boil. Pour soup mixture over chicken. Cover chicken bake at 350 F. for 30 minutes. Remove cover and bake 30 minutes longer. Makes 6 servings.

I usually serve this over cooked extra wide noodles. When I have made this for company, I receive rave reviews every time.
