Chinese Green Beans

1 lb fresh green beans
vegetable oil spray or 2 T peanut oil
1 t gingerroot, peeled & minced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 T water
1 T soy sauce
1 t cornstarch
1/2 t brown sugar
few drops sesame oil
1/4 t crushed red pepper flakes

Arrange beans in a vegetable steamer and place over boiling water. Cover and steam 5 minutes. Drain and plunge into cold water, drain again. Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray or peanut oil and heat til hot. Add ginger and garlic and sauté 30 seconds. Add beans, sauté 5 minutes. Combine water, soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, sesame oil and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir well. Add to beans, cook 30 seconds or til thoroughly heated, stirring constantly.
