Chinese Restaurant Style Orange Sweet and Sour Sauce
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup white granulated sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 Tbsp mushroom flavored dark soy sauce or oyster sauce
3 Tbsp distilled white vinegar
1/2 cup orange juice
3/4 tsp red food coloring (optional)
2 tbsp corn starch mixed with 3 Tbsp cold water
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except cornstarch. Bring to a low boil.
Mix cornstarch with cold water then whisk into sauce.
Simmer for a couple of minutes to thicken sauce.
Makes about 3 cups.
