Chocolate for a Low? ( Diabetes )

Chocolate for a Low? ( Diabetes )

You might be tempted to eat chocolate to treat a low, but this isn’t always the best approach. Chocolate contains a lot of fat, which is part of the reason why it tastes so good. Unfortunately, your body absorbs foods that contain fat more slowly, so something high in glucose and fat-free will probably raise your blood glucose level faster than chocolate. It might be tempting to reach for the chocolates when you are low, but other foods will probably get you back to normal quicker. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy chocolate. Just be aware of its limits as a treatment for low blood glucose.
