Cinnamon Cookies

Cinnamon Cookies

The Recipe Originally Called For Ginger But I Used Cinnamon Instead When I First Made These. I Liked Them.

These Spicy Cookies Flatten Slightly As They Bake. They’re Crackled On Top, Crisp On The Outside & Slightly Soft In The Centre.

¾ Cup Shortening
1 Cup Granulated Sugar
1 Egg
¼ Cup Molasses
2 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 Tsp Baking Soda
¼ Tsp Salt
2 Tsp Ginger
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Ground Cloves
Granulated Sugar

In A Large Bowl, Cream Together Shortening & Sugar. Beat In Egg & Molasses.

In Separate Bowl, Combine Flour, Soda, Salt & Spices; Blend Into Creamed Mixture, Shape Into 1 Inch Balls. Roll In Sugar.

Place 2 Inches Apart On Greased Baking Sheets. Bake In 350°f. Oven For 8 – 10 Minutes Or Until Golden. Don’t Overbake; Cookies Should Be Slightly Soft When Removed From Oven.

Cool On Baking Sheets For A Few Minutes, Then Remove To Racks To Cool Completely.

Makes About 40 Cookies.
