Cocktail Sauce

Stale ingredients will not create the best-tasting cocktail sauce. Be sure to use fresh lemon juice, a newly opened bottle of horseradish, and fresh chili powder in the recipe.

Makes 1 cup, serving four

1 cup ketchup
2-1/2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ancho or other mild chili powder
Pinch cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon juice from 1 small lemon

  1. Stir all ingredients together in a small bowl; adjust seasonings as necessary.
