COOKING FOR A CROWD - FRENCH DRESSING - THICK

2 pounds granulated sugar
2 tablespoons paprika
4 teaspoons dry mustard
2 tablespoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons onion juice
1 1/2 cups cider vinegar
1 quart salad oil

  1. Combine sugar and seasonings in mixer bowl, using wire whip attachment.

  2. Add vinegar. Mix well.

  3. Add oil gradually in small amounts. Beat well after each addition.

Yield: 2 quarts

Notes: If a French Dressing of usual consistency is desired, use only 8 oz of sugar.

VARIATIONS:

Celery Seed Dressing. Add 2 oz celery seed.

Poppy Seed Dressing. Add 1 oz poppy seed.
