cooling and refreshing...........

It’s been a bit too humid and it’s nice to sit back and relax with something that is cool and refreshing!

STRAWBERRY-LEMONADE SLUSHIE
SERVES 2 - 4

2/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. fresh lemon juice
1 pt. fresh strawberries
3 c. ice cubes

Blend on high speed until smooth. Garnish with strawberries.

STRAWBERRY LEMONADE
SERVES 6
2 c. water
1 c. sugar
1 T. grated lemon peel
1 c. fresh lemon juice
1 pt. strawberries, hulled and halved
2 c. sparkling water or club soda
Crushed ice
Mint sprigs (optional)

Combine water and sugar in saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and stir to dissolve sugar. Add lemon peel and juice, and stir to blend. Remove from heat and cool completely. Strain into pitcher or plastic bottle. Puree strawberries in processor or blender. Add to mixture. Cover securely and pack in ice chest. When ready to serve, fill glasses with crushed ice, pour in lemonade and add a splash or two of club soda. Garnish with mint sprigs if you wish.

ORANGE SODA
MAKES 8 TO 10 1 ½ C. SERVINGS

1 can frozen, pulp-free orange juice concentrate (12 oz.)
2 bottles lemon lime soda (2 liters each)
1 to 2 oranges, cut into small wedges

Combine just before ready to serve. Serve with orange wedge over glass.

strongly brewed green tea (cooled), sweetened with honey and mixed with a “shot” of ginger ale

WATERMELON LEMONADE

1 ¾ c. cold water
¼ c. sugar
5 c. chunked watermelon
1 can (12 oz.) frozen pink lemonade concentrate
¼ c. lemon juice
Ice
Watermelon balls and lemon slices, optional

Heat ¼ c. water until hot; add sugar - stir to dissolve. Puree watermelon, concentrate and juice. Transfer to pitcher; stir in sugar mixture and remaining cold water. Serve over ice.

BLACK AND WHITE MALTED MILKSHAKE

For an old-fashioned treat, in blender, process 4 scoops vanilla ice cream, ½ c. milk, 2 T. chocolate syrup and 2 T. malted milk powder until smooth. Serves 2.

Pick your fruit -

Puree cold diced pineapple, melon or strawberries in blender. Stir in water until pourable; sweeten with sugar.

VANILLA CREAM SODA

Combine 3 T. vanilla syrup and ½ c. milk; stir ¾ c cold seltzer.
