Corned Beef


3 to 4 lb. corned beef brisket
1/2 c. chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 bay leaves
1 head cabbage, cut into wedges (optional)

Place brisket in crockpot. Barely cover with water. Add onion, garlic and bay leaves. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 hours. If cabbage is desired, remove brisket from crockpot when done; turn on HIGH and drop wedges of cabbage into broth. Cover and cook 20 to 30 minutes or until cabbage is tender.

When do you put in the potato and carrots?

This recipes is for just a brisket. If you wanted to add potatoes and/or carrots you can do so with the brisket. Or you can steam them separately and add later.
