cream soups

does anyone have a great cream soup recipe i can tryout?
thanks

I put together my own recipe book over the years, and I never keep a recipe that my family doesn’t like, so, suffice it to say, this one is in my recipe book

CREAM OF CABBAGE SOUP

4 c. water
1/8 t. garlic powder
2 T. chicken bouillon
1 t. salt
3 c. peeled, diced potatoes
½ c. butter or margarine
1 c. chopped onions
1 c. flour
1 c. peeled, diced rutabaga
2 c. milk
½ c. diced carrots
2 c. vegetable broth or water
6 c. chopped cabbage
1 c. Cheez-Whiz
1 c. chopped celery
Pepper, to taste
In a large pot, bring water and bouillon to a boil. Add potatoes, onion, rutabaga and carrots. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Add cabbage and celery; simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Add garlic powder and salt; let soup simmer while preparing the cream sauce. FOR CREAM SAUCE: In a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour; cook and stir over medium heat until golden brown. Gradually add milk and broth, stirring until smooth. Add cheese and pepper; cook on low until cheese is melted. Stir into vegetable mixture; simmer for 5 minutes. Thin with extra milk, if necessary. Makes 12 to 14 servings.
