DEEP-FRIED BOW TIES

1/4 cup buttermilk
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1-1/2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter flavor crisco, melted
3/4 cup plus 4 to 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Confectioners’ sugar

Prepare bow ties - Combine buttermilk, egg yolks sugar and vanilla; blend well. Add peel and salt; mix well; add melted crisco and flour; mix well… In deep-fat fryer or deep saucepan heat about 2 inches crisco to 375ºF. Fry several at a time for about 1-1/2 minutes, or until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Sift confectioners’ sugar over both sides. Serve immediately or store in covered container.
