Diabetes on the Job ( Diabetes )

Should you take your diabetes to work? It’s up to you whether you want to tell your co-workers or your boss that you have diabetes. You do have a responsibility to yourself and your co-workers to keep the work environment safe, so it’s important to have a system in place for managing emergencies, including a severe low blood glucose episode.
Your co-workers are not responsible for taking care of you, but you will probably find that they will be very understanding and want to help you stay healthy. Most people feel more comfortable dealing with emergencies when they have some preparation and understanding. You don’t have to make diabetes the daily topic of conversation, and you may feel uncomfortable letting people at work become the “control patrol.” This is a personal choice that requires consideration on your part, but you will find that your life is easier if you allow others to support you.
