Easy Beefy Cowboy Beans
1 1/2 pounds [680 g] ground beef 1 medium onion, chopped 1 sweet red or green pepper, membranes removed and seeded, into 1/2-inch [1.3-cm] pieces 1 [16-ounce / 454-g] can baked beans 1 [15-ounce / 426-g] can Great Northern beans, rinsed then drained 1/4 cup [60 mL] tomato ketchup 1/4 cup [60 mL] 57 sauce® 1 tablespoon [15 mL] packed brown sugar 2 teaspoons [10 mL] Worcestershire sauce Salt and pepper, to taste Brown together ground beef, chopped onion and sweet pepper pieces stirring into a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat for approximately 6 to 8 minutes, until beef is no longer pink, breaking up into 1-inch [2.5-cm] crumbles. Pour off drippings. Season beef mixutre with 1/2 teaspoon [1.3-mL] salt and 1/8 teaspoon [0.5-mL] pepper. Stir in baked beans, drained Great Northern beans, tomato ketchup, 57 sauce®, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Lower heat to medium-low. Cover and leave to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
