English Muffin Bread

This is a MAJOR family favorite! My great Aunt Kate would always bring loaves over for us. Baked loaves freeze well. This is really good, just sliced, toast and put a little butter on it!

2 pkgs Fleischman active dry yeast
6 cups unsifted flour
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup water
cornmeal

Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Heat liquids until very warm. Add to dry ingredients, beat well. Stir in rest of flour, make a stiff batter. Spoon into TWO 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal. Cover and let rise in warm place for 45 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pan immediately.
