Festive Cajun Pepper Steak

1-1/2 lb. sirloin beef tips
1 tsp. Cajun seasoning
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 medium-size green bell pepper, chopped
1 onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1 (14-1/2 oz.) can beef broth
1 (14-1/2 oz.) can diced tomatoes, undrained
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. white wine vinegary
1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 (22-oz.) pkg frozen mashed potatoes
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. cold water

Sprinkle beef tips with 1 tsp. Cajun seasoning. Cook beef in hot oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, 10 minutes or until browned. Add bell pepper, onion and garlic, sauté for 3 minutes. Stir in broth and next 6 ingredients. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover and simmer 1 hour or until meat is tender.

Cook frozen mashed potatoes according to pkg directions.

Stir together cornstarch and water until smooth, stir into meat mixture. Bring to a boil, cook stirring constantly, 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve over mashed potatoes.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.
