Fig Muffins

1 cup fig preserves with syrup
2 cups sugar
2-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda.
1 stick butter or margarine, room temperature (1/4 lb)
3 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring
1/2 cup buttermilk

Preheat oven to 350F. Cream sugar and butter, add eggs, beat well. Add figs, mix. Add remaining ingredients, blend. Fill each muffin sections two-thirds full. Bake 15-20 minutes, Cool on wire rack 15 minutes. Remove from pan. Serve cool.
