This is from my cousin. I am blessed with wonderful, and I mean FABULOUS cooks in my family. One cousin was a home economist. My sister taught Home Ec (consumer family living) and my aunts all were wonderful cooks. They were old school cooks who didn’t have recipes but just made dishes.
My mother was one of the best cooks around these parts. She was well known for setting a perfect table and serving meals that no one could out match. I think the secret was that we raised our beef, pork, and poultry, as well as our veggies. We had fresh eggs, butter, milk and of course our own lard!!! Our flour was obtained from the mill as our grain was taken there to be ground.
I have bird walked but I love to reminise about the days of my childhood. I can smell the food cooking right now.
